Beerfest 2004

Thursday, 02 December 2004
For the benefit of the uninitiated, let me start with an explaination. Beerfest is the name given to the manchester university rag beer festival (formerly UMIST rag beer festival). Every year, the students of Manchester rag organise a beer festival, the profits from which go to selected local and national charities. It's held around late October/early November and usually lasts from Wednesday to Saturday inclusive.

As well as the beer, lager, cider, vodka and, more recently, alcopops, there's the charity jukebox, run by myself and an assortment of past and present students.

That's about as much of an explaination as I can give to anyone who's never been. I can only suggest that you go next year.

In spite of my initial thoughts, this year turned out to be one of the most successfull ever with all of the booze being sold out by the end of Friday!

So, big congratulations to all involved whether it was in organising it, running it or just drinking the beer dry.

I'll put up our photos at some point but till then you'll have to take my word for it when I say it was great.

Just one final note. I'd like to wish next years beermonster, Jon, the best of luck. He's got a lot to live up to but I reckon they couldn't have picked a better candidate.
